Pinkream was initially released in 1996 as a three sided double 10", and then re-issued on cd with two long bonus tracks. Recorded and mixed at ZSF Produkt Studio, June-August 1995. Outtakes from this session appear in the Merzbox on the cd Red Magnesia Pink. The CD's graphic design is mostly solid pink with white line art, but the booklet opens up to a full color collage that is similar to the back cover art of Green Wheels. Album begins with an incredibly loud solid synth tone, and eventually evolves into a series of pulses and drones, with walls of harsh distorted noise flowing between the foreground and background. One could think of this as a psychadelic harsh noise release that hints at the later masterpiece Space Metalizer as well as Hybrid Noisebloom and which in it's more brutal moments feels much like Pulse Demon. Like much of Merzbow's output from the mid-1990's, this cd is really solid and recommended.
